Falcons Battle in Delta College Tournament, Go 2-2 Against Top Northern California Teams
The Solano College women’s volleyball team competed in the Delta College Tournament on Friday and Saturday, September 5–6, facing some of the strongest programs in Northern California. The Falcons finished the weekend 2-2, improving their overall record to 4-6, while showing grit and steady growth against ranked competition.
Friday, Sept. 5 – Gold Division Bound
Solano opened the tournament with a thrilling five-set victory over West Valley College (25-19, 22-25, 28-30, 25-19, 15-9). After falling behind two sets to one, the Falcons rallied to force a deciding fifth set and came out on top with an all-around team effort.

Kaylie Reyes powered the offense with a season-high 27 kills, 12 digs, and strong serving (16-17).

Giana Guintu was outstanding, running the offense with a school-record 50 assists (breaking Coach Mia Pimentel’s 2018 record of 49), adding 15 digs, and serving 25-26 with 5 aces.

Jasmine Ting anchored the defense with 22 digs and 2 aces on 15-16 serving.

Aliyah Aguiar chipped in 15 kills and 2 blocks.

Kayla Caliboso had her season-high 5 blocks, while Lilli Mass and Makenzie Lovell contributed key kills, aces, and steady passing.
The Falcons later faced state-ranked No. 3 Fresno City College, falling in three sets (18-25, 15-25, 12-25). Despite the loss, Solano battled through long rallies.

Aliyah Aguiar added 7 kills and 2 blocks.

Maui Asuncion went perfect from the line (5-5) and added 4 digs, while Jasmine Ting had 6 digs on 7-7 serving.
Saturday, Sept. 6 – Strong Growth and Redemption
The Falcons began Saturday against state No. 10 American River College, dropping three tight sets (23-25, 21-25, 21-25). While the result went against them, the Falcons showed clear improvement.

Aguiar led with 10 kills.

Mass followed with 9 kills, 4 aces, and perfect serving (16-16).

Reyes chipped in 9 kills and 12 digs.

Guintu ran the offense with 24 assists and added 7 digs.
Solano closed out the tournament with a straight-set victory over Hartnell College (25-19, 25-20, 25-18). The Falcons avenged a five-set preseason loss to the Panthers with a commanding performance.

Guintu again led the offense with 26 assists, 14 digs, and 2 aces.

Aguiar dominated at the net with 14 kills.

Reyes contributed 11 kills and 14 digs, while Ting added 12 digs and strong serving.

Ashlee Conley, Caliboso, and Mass rounded out the attack with efficient hitting, serving, and blocking.
Looking Ahead
The Falcons will return home for back-to-back quad events next week. On Wednesday, Solano hosts De Anza at 4 p.m. and Shasta College at 6 p.m. On Friday, the Falcons face Santa Rosa at 3 p.m. and Sacramento City at 5 p.m. Admission is free, though parking requires a $2 pass.
