Coach Darla Williams Reaches 400 Wins in Stellar Career at Solano College
Fairfield, CA — In a major milestone for the Solano College women’s volleyball program, head coach Darla Williams celebrated her 400th career win this season, capping a sweep over Santa Rosa Junior College. In her 23rd season leading the Falcons, the win solidifies her status as one of the most enduring and successful coaches in the Bay Valley Conference. Darla Williams first took the helm of Solano College’s volleyball program in 2003. Over two decades later, she has built a tradition of competitiveness, leadership, and player development.
Her teams are known not just for wins, but for their consistency in performance, their resilience in tight matches, and commitment to academic and personal growth of the student-athletes.
Darla Williams joined Solano College as Head Women's Volleyball Coach in 2003. Since then, she has led the Falcons to Bay Valley Conference (BVC) Championships 9 times (2006, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024), and runner-up finishes six times (2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 & 2014). The 2019 title saw a perfect 14-0 record in conference play without dropping a set. In the Bay Valley Conference, the team has a 98-1 record since 2017. Williams has an overall coaching record of 582-287 (38th year as a head volleyball coach), 400 wins overall record at Solano College earning seven BVC Coach of the Year nods (2006, 2013, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024).
Williams began her varsity high school coaching career at Vintage High School in Napa from 1991-96, before moving to Will C. Wood High School from 1996-03. While at the helm, Wood won two MEL crowns and was a NorCal State qualifier in 2001. She finished her high school coaching career with a 188-87 overall record. She was inducted into the WCW Athletics Hall of Fame in Spring 2022.
Coach Williams earned her AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Sierra College. At Sierra College, in Spring 2008, she was honored and named into the Sierra College Athletics Hall of Fame. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1988 before adding a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from La Verne University in 1991. Williams also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Kinesiology from St. Mary's College in 1995.
