Solano Women’s Doubles Battles in Thriller at Ojai Tennis Tournament
OJAI, Calif. — Solano College women’s doubles team Ezrielle Llave and Naomi Munro delivered one of the most exciting matches of the day at the prestigious Ojai Tennis Tournament, battling into a deciding tiebreaker before narrowly falling Thursday afternoon.
The Falcons duo faced Selina Bilbrey and Lily Wood in a highly competitive opening-round matchup. After dropping the first set 6-4, Llave and Munro responded with determination to capture the second set 7-5 and force a super tiebreaker.
In the deciding breaker, both teams traded points in a dramatic finish before Solano came up just short, falling 13-11.
Despite the result, Llave and Munro showed tremendous resilience and teamwork against a strong opponent on one of California’s biggest collegiate tennis stages. Their performance reflected the competitiveness and growth of the Solano women’s tennis program throughout the season.
The Ojai Tournament remains one of the premier events in community college tennis, and the Falcons once again proved they can compete with the state’s best.

OJAI, Calif. — Solano College women’s doubles pair Althea Yabut and Victoria Silva turned in a strong performance Thursday at the prestigious Ojai Tennis Tournament, earning a convincing first-round victory.
Competing in the afternoon session, the Falcons duo defeated Rio Hondo's Makayla Glover and Sophia Chavez in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Yabut and Silva controlled the match with consistent groundstrokes, strong net play, and steady communication throughout the contest. After taking the opening set 6-3, Solano carried that momentum into the second set to close out the win.
The victory advanced the Falcons pair further into one of California’s premier collegiate tennis events and continued a strong showing for Solano College at Ojai.
With singles and doubles competitors finding success throughout the tournament, the Falcons once again demonstrated the depth and talent of their women’s tennis program.
Solano Women’s Doubles Advances to Face Santa Barbara City College at Ojai
OJAI, Calif. — Solano College women’s doubles team Althea Yabut and Victoria Silva will continue their run at the prestigious Ojai Tennis Tournament with a Friday afternoon matchup against Santa Barbara City College.
The Falcons pair is scheduled to take on Luccia Noel-Jungclaussen and McCarley Trigg at 3:00 p.m. in Ventura College competition courts as they look to advance deeper into the doubles bracket.
Yabut and Silva earned their spot in the next round after a strong straight-set win Thursday, showing poise and chemistry in a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Their aggressive play and consistency have made them a tough matchup in the tournament.
The Ojai Tournament features many of the top community college programs in California, and Solano has continued to make a strong statement with multiple athletes advancing in singles and doubles play.
With momentum on their side, the Falcons duo will look to keep their tournament run going Friday afternoon.
