Solano Women’s Tennis Cruises Past Mission with Dominant Performance
The Solano College women’s tennis team delivered a commanding performance against Mission College, securing a decisive team victory behind strong showings in both doubles and singles play.
Solano set the tone early by taking two of three doubles matches. At the top spot, Victoria Silva and Naomi Munro controlled play throughout, earning an 8-3 win. The duo of Althea Yabut and Kalyse Payne was even more dominant at No. 2 doubles, rolling to an 8-2 victory. Mission picked up the point at No. 3 by default.
In singles competition, Solano continued to assert itself, winning four of the five contested matches. Silva was nearly flawless at the No. 1 position, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Munro followed with a strong performance at No. 3, winning 6-3, 6-1, while Payne delivered the most dominant outing of the day with a double bagel (6-0, 6-0) at No. 4.
Mya Crumby added another point for Solano with a solid 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. Yabut faced a tough opponent at No. 2, falling 1-6, 1-6, and the No. 6 singles match was decided by default.
The Falcons will travel to American River College this week for the Big 8 North Tournament.
