Solano College Swimming Shines at Central Valley Conference Championships
The Solano College swimming team delivered an impressive showing at the Central Valley Conference Championships, highlighted by a wave of season-best and lifetime-best performances across both the men’s and women’s teams.
On the men’s side, Solano’s relay teams set the tone early with strong finishes. The Falcons placed fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:47.00 behind the team of Luc Ferrer, Tavion Puckett, Victor Compton, and Jayden Scalise-Kifer. They followed that with another fourth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay (2:00.52), as Ferrer, Compton, Scalise-Kifer, and Avery Evans combined for another solid effort.
Sophomore Emma Wilhite led the way for the women’s team with an outstanding meet, capturing a second-place finish in the 200 Butterfly (2:29.59). She added two third-place finishes in the 500 Freestyle (5:47.71) and 100 Butterfly (1:05.81), along with a fourth-place showing in the 50 Butterfly (30.12), capping off a dominant all-around performance.
Carina Rivera contributed across multiple events, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 100 Individual Medley (38.62). She also placed eighth in the 100 Freestyle (1:12.14) and recorded ninth-place finishes in both the 50 Butterfly (34.98) and 100 Breaststroke (1:24.42).
Parker Benvio turned in a strong meet with consistent finishes, placing sixth in both the 100 Backstroke (1:18.41) and 200 Backstroke (2:50.20), along with a seventh-place finish in the 50 Freestyle (30.44) and 12th in the 50 Backstroke (35.87).
Victor Compton added valuable points with a seventh-place finish in the 500 Freestyle (6:17.03), while also placing ninth in the 100 Freestyle (58.61) and 11th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:15.96).
Jayden Scalise-Kifer was a key contributor for the Falcons, finishing fifth in the 100 Freestyle (57.49), sixth in both the 100 Butterfly (59.31) and 100 Individual Medley (1:04.40), and seventh in the 50 Butterfly (27.27).
Luc Ferrer led the men’s individual efforts with a runner-up finish in the 50 Backstroke (25.38). He also placed third in the 100 Individual Medley (56.09), fourth in both the 50 Freestyle (22.62) and 100 Backstroke (59.86), showcasing his versatility in the pool.
Tavion Puckett recorded an eighth-place finish in the 100 Freestyle (1:00.06) and placed seventh in the 100 Backstroke (1:11.04), while Avery Evans added a 12th-place finish in the 50 Breaststroke (35.20) and 14th in the 100 Breaststroke (1:23.37).
Robert Strang rounded out the Falcons’ efforts with a 13th-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke (1:21.08) and 14th in the 50 Breaststroke (38.20).
Overall, the Central Valley Conference Championships marked a successful outing for Solano College, as the Falcons demonstrated depth, resilience, and continued improvement. With numerous personal-best performances and strong finishes across the board, the team showcased its growth and competitive spirit heading into the postseason.
