Solano College Welcomes Bonita Allen as Head Softball Coach
The Solano College Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Bonita Allen as the new Head Softball Coach. Allen brings a wealth of coaching, playing, and player development experience to the Falcons, having successfully coached at the NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, travel softball, and professional levels.
A former collegiate student-athlete and professional softball player in Australia, Allen has built a distinguished career centered on developing student-athletes and building competitive programs grounded in character, accountability, and excellence.
Prior to joining Solano College, Allen served in coaching roles at the NCAA Division I level, where she helped guide and develop numerous conference award recipients and All-Conference performers. During her time at Morehead State University, student-athletes under her leadership earned All-Ohio Valley Conference Second Team honors, two OVC All-Newcomer Team selections, two OVC Co-Pitcher of the Week awards, and two Student-Athlete of the Week recognitions. Additionally, one player set a new program single-season record for hits.
Before Morehead State, Allen coached at Alabama State University, where she helped lead the program to a third-place finish in the conference tournament. Under her guidance, the team significantly improved its pitching performance, lowering its ERA from 3.92 to 2.95. Student-athletes earned numerous conference honors, including Co-Hitter of the Week, Hitter of the Week, Newcomer of the Week, and Co-Newcomer of the Week accolades, while one pitcher finished third in the conference in strikeouts.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Allen has enjoyed extensive success in elite travel softball and player development. She has helped numerous athletes advance to collegiate programs across the country, including five players who went on to compete in multiple NCAA Regional Tournaments during their collegiate careers.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Allen to the Falcon family," said the Solano College Athletics Department. "Her experience, passion for student-athlete development, and proven track record of success make her an outstanding fit for our softball program and institution."
Allen's coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, discipline, resilience, and competitive excellence while preparing student-athletes for success in the classroom, on the field, and beyond graduation. She is committed to fostering a culture that challenges student-athletes to reach their full potential both academically and athletically.
As she begins her first season leading the Falcons, Allen looks forward to building upon the proud tradition of Solano College Softball and developing the next generation of successful student-athletes.
Welcome to Solano College, Coach Allen!
