Solano Holds Off Yuba for 3-1 Victory
The Solano College baseball team secured a key conference win on Monday afternoon, defeating Yuba 3-1 behind a strong pitching performance and timely hitting.
Solano (14-20, 9-6) struck first in the second inning, plating a run to take an early lead. The Falcons added to their advantage in the fourth, scoring twice to build a 3-0 cushion. Yuba (16-16, 6-9) managed to push across its lone run in the top of the fourth, but could not generate further offense against Solano’s pitching staff.
On the mound, Kai Koizumi delivered a solid outing to earn the win, going 6.0 innings while allowing just one run on six hits and striking out five. Amari Bryant was dominant in relief, tossing three shutout innings, allowing only one hit while striking out four to record his fifth save of the season.
Offensively, Solano tallied eight hits, led by Michael Rivera, who went 3-for-4 to pace the lineup. Jace Parkinson added two hits, while Teo Copp reached base three times with a hit and two walks.
Sean Moffett contributed an RBI double, and Isaiah Pazmino added a sacrifice fly to account for the Falcons’ scoring.
Solano’s pitching proved to be the difference, limiting Yuba to just one run while striking out nine batters on the day. The Falcons’ ability to capitalize in key moments helped secure the 3-1 victory as they continue conference play.
