Solano Holds Off Marin, 5-3
FAIRFIELD, CA — Solano College baseball earned a solid 5-3 victory over Marin on Thursday afternoon, using a key fifth-inning surge and timely hitting to secure the win.
The Falcons struck first in the bottom of the opening inning and regained control in the fifth, plating three runs to break open a tight contest. Solano added an insurance run in the sixth, which proved crucial down the stretch.
Offensively, Solano tallied 11 hits on the day, led by James Burgess and Mason Sayre, who each scored twice and collected two hits apiece. Burgess added a double, while Sayre reached base three times. Teo Copp also had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
The Falcons’ biggest swing came from Michael Rivera, who drove in two runs, while Dylan Snider contributed with two hits and an RBI. Solano showed patience at the plate as well, drawing five walks to keep pressure on Marin pitching throughout the game.
On the mound, Solano’s pitching staff combined to limit Marin to three runs on nine hits. Despite Marin cutting into the lead with runs in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings, Solano’s defense and pitching held firm to close out the victory.
With the win, the Falcons tie the Marin series 1-1, and travel to Marin Saturday.
