Solano Pulls Away Late for 8-4 Road Win at Contra Costa
RICHMOND, Calif. — A decisive seventh inning proved to be the difference as Solano College pulled away for an 8-4 victory over Contra Costa on March 26, improving to 10-17 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
After a tightly contested game through the first six innings, Solano broke things open in the top of the seventh, plating four runs to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 6-3 lead they would not relinquish.
Big Seventh Inning Sparks Solano
Solano’s offense came alive in the seventh, capitalizing on timely hitting and defensive miscues. Key contributions came throughout the lineup, including clutch RBIs from Bryce Alcantara, Cayne Hill, and Isaiah Pazmino.
The Falcons added an insurance run in the eighth to extend the lead to 8-4, providing breathing room heading into the final inning.
Sayre Leads Offensive Effort
Mason Sayre paced Solano at the plate with a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a double, consistently setting the tone offensively. Michael Rivera added two hits and two runs, while Dylan Snider contributed with a hit, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Alcantara drove in two runs, while Pazmino and Hill each added an RBI to round out a balanced offensive attack that produced 11 hits on the day.
Orabuena Solid, Bryant Closes
On the mound, Jared Orabuena delivered a steady start, going 5.2 innings while allowing two runs on four hits and striking out four. Despite issuing four walks, he limited damage and kept Solano within reach.
Amari Bryant came on in relief and earned the win, tossing the final 3.1 innings while allowing two runs and striking out one to secure the victory.
Solano will be at home tomorrow 3/28 vs Contra Costa.
