Solano Holds Off Late Surge to Defeat Contra Costa, 11-9

The Solano College baseball team improved to 11-17 overall and 6-3 in conference play with an 11-9 victory over Contra Costa on Saturday afternoon, fending off a late rally to secure the win.
Solano jumped out early, plating a run in each of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. Contra Costa responded in the second inning with two runs of their own, briefly tying the game before the Falcons regained control.
The turning point came in the fifth inning when Solano erupted for five runs, breaking the game open and building a 7-2 advantage. The big inning was fueled by timely hitting and aggressive baserunning, giving the Falcons a cushion they would need down the stretch.
Leading the offensive charge for Solano was Noah Rodda, who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Teo Copp also delivered a strong performance, finishing 2-for-5 with three RBIs, while Michael Rivera added two hits, including a double, and scored three runs.
Additional contributions came from Mason Sayre, who scored twice and drove in a run, and Isaiah Pazmino, who brought home two runs and was active on the basepaths with a stolen base.
As a team, Solano tallied nine hits and capitalized on scoring opportunities, driving in 10 RBIs while drawing seven walks. The Falcons also showcased aggressive baserunning with four stolen bases.
Solano will look to carry the momentum forward as they continue conference play in the coming week.
