Falcons Beach Volleyball Split at Marin Event
Solano College Edges College of San Mateo 3-2
Solano College closed out competition at the Marin event on February 20 with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the College of San Mateo, earning its fifth team win of the young 2026 season.
The Falcons once again relied on their top pair to set the tone. At Flight 1, Guintu/Reyes delivered a composed straight-set win over Williams/Gaffney, 21-18, 21-16. The duo controlled the tempo throughout, using strong serving and steady defense to keep San Mateo from gaining momentum.
At Flight 2, Davis/Projillo continued their consistent play with a decisive 21-14, 21-10 victory against Duran/Gamez. Their aggressive net play and balanced attack gave Solano an early 2-0 team advantage.
San Mateo responded at Flight 3 in one of the tightest matches of the day. Ting/Conley battled through three sets before falling 21-18, 10-21, 16-14, cutting the Falcons’ lead to 2-1.
Solano regained control at Flight 4, where Ierome/Mass earned a convincing 21-13, 21-11 win over Turner/Agresti to clinch the team victory at 3-1. Their steady passing and communication proved key in closing out both sets comfortably.
The final match at Flight 5 went to San Mateo, as Asuncion/Lovell dropped a competitive 21-19, 21-16 decision to Hunt/Saluni, bringing the final team score to 3-2.
With the win, Solano showcased depth across its lineup and the ability to close out tight duals. Strong performances from the top two flights and a clinching effort at Flight 4 highlighted the Falcons’ balanced attack as they continue to build momentum early in the season.
Solano College Falls 3-2 to Hartnell College
Solano College battled through a tightly contested dual but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Hartnell College on February 20 at the College of Marin.
Hartnell struck first at Flight 1, where Luna/Roberts defeated Guintu/Reyes 21-9, 21-19. After a decisive opening set, the Falcons’ top pair regrouped and pushed the second set to the brink before Hartnell closed it out to take the early team lead.
Solano answered at Flight 2 with a strong performance from Davis/Projillo. The duo controlled both sets in a 21-14, 21-15 victory over Cunningham/Cornejo, evening the team score at 1-1.
Hartnell regained momentum at Flight 3, as Walter/Boykin topped Ting/Conley in straight sets, 21-13, 21-10, to move ahead 2-1 in the dual.
The Falcons showed resilience at Flight 4. Ierome/Mass rebounded from a first-set loss to defeat Hagleitner/Royal in three sets, 17-21, 21-16, 15-10. Their comeback tied the overall match at 2-2 and set up a decisive contest at Flight 5.
In the final pairing, Asuncion/Lovell battled Wilson/Leleua in a back-and-forth match. After dropping the first set 21-17, the Falcons rallied to take the second 21-13. Hartnell responded in the third, pulling away late for a 15-7 win to secure the 3-2 team victory.
