Diego Reyes is Named Head Mens Basketball Coach
Solano Community College Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Diego Reyes as the next Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball program.
A familiar face at Solano, Reyes assumes the position after spending the past four seasons with the Falcons, including the 2025-26 season as Interim Head Coach. During his time on staff, he has helped cultivate a program centered on player development, academic success, and preparing student-athletes to compete at the next level.
Before Solano, Reyes served as Lead Assistant Coach at Pacific Union College, where he became one of the youngest coaches in men’s basketball history to win games at the four-year collegiate level at just 23 years old, while filling the temporary role of head coach.
Born and raised in the local community, Reyes understands both the tradition of Solano College Basketball and the talent that exists throughout the region. His vision is to continue building a championship-caliber program while providing student-athletes with an opportunity to stay home, represent their community, and pursue their academic and athletic goals at Solano College.
Under Reyes’ leadership, the program will continue to emphasize competitive excellence, academic achievement, player development, and community engagement while maintaining the proud tradition that has defined Solano Men’s Basketball.
“Growing up in this community, Solano College was always a place I admired. To now have the opportunity to lead this program is truly an honor,” Reyes said. “We have incredible basketball talent in our own backyard, and our goal is to build a program attracts regional talent and gives local student-athletes every reason to stay home. We want to develop great players, graduate great young men, compete for championships, and continue creating opportunities for our players to move on to four-year universities. I’m excited to build on the traditions and culture here and lead this program into its next chapter.”
At 28 years old, Reyes becomes one of the youngest head men’s basketball coaches in California, beginning a new era for a program committed to excellence on the court, in the classroom, and throughout the Solano County community.
